3-year-old boy accidentally pours super glue into his eyes, dad adds one thing, doctor praises: “You saved your child’s life.”

Even though parents always worry about the safety of their children, they can’t always be there to watch over them. That’s why it’s essential for parents to equip themselves with medical knowledge and basic first aid skills to be prepared in case of any accidents involving their children.

Dangers are always present in our daily lives and can happen at any time. Thanks to his understanding, a father in Guangzhou, China, was able to save his 3-year-old son from permanent blindness.

Little Minh, a 3-year-old boy in Guangzhou, is very curious and active. Even though his father was watching over him at home, he still had an accident inside their own house. According to his father, that day he was taking care of their son while his wife went to work. Being cautious, he had removed all potentially dangerous objects from the sight of Minh. However, he overlooked a bottle of glue.

While he was looking at his phone, his son was busy exploring the things inside their house. As it was one of his hobbies, the father thought it was fine as long as his son was sitting quietly. Unfortunately, the little boy found a bottle of glue hidden in a corner of a cabinet. Minh opened the bottle and accidentally splashed the glue into his eyes, causing him to cry out of fear.

Upon seeing his son holding a bottle of glue, the father immediately understood what happened. He quickly grabbed some water to rinse off the spilled glue and used saline solution to flush his son’s eyes. Thanks to this action, Minh’s eyes were not severely affected.

After administering the first aid, the father rushed his son to the nearby hospital. Upon hearing that the father had treated his son with saline solution, the doctor exclaimed, “You did a great job! Your actions have saved your son!”

The doctor explained that saline solution can dilute the glue and the salt component in the solution helps reduce the harm to the skin caused by the glue.

According to experts, if unfortunately, a person gets glue in their eyes, it is crucial to quickly follow the proper first aid steps and seek immediate medical attention at the closest hospital for examination and timely treatment.

Here are the basic first aid steps to follow when glue gets in the eyes:

– Immediately rinse the eyes with plenty of clean water for several minutes. You can immerse the eyes into a bowl or a container filled with water, but it is best to rinse the eyes under a continuous flow of running water to ensure the eyes are always in contact with fresh and clean water.

– Limit blinking as the glue is hardening. Blinking too much can cause damage to the surfaces of the eyeballs.

– Use a clean cloth soaked in cold water, wring it out, and apply it to both eyes. It is best to have the patient lie down.

– Take the patient to the nearest medical facility, preferably an eye clinic, for examination. The doctor will check the condition of the cornea under specialized lighting to remove any remaining glue, and then prescribe antibiotic eye drops for the patient.

One crucial thing to remember is that when glue gets in the eyes, it must be treated quickly. The faster the treatment, the less damage the eyes will suffer. Avoid excessive blinking as the glue can scratch the eyelids and cornea. Do not attempt to treat it with any chemicals at home to avoid further harm to the eyes. Never attempt self-treatment using folk remedies.
