How to change your driving license online at home issued by the General Department of Roads in less than 5 minutes

Steps to take

Step 1: You access the website of the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam to enter information:

https://dichvucong.gplx.gov.vn/faces/registration/home.xhtml

Step 2: Select information to register online, specifically as follows:

– Administrative procedures:

• Level 3 public service to change driver's license: Applicable to holders of driving licenses managed by the transport sector, valid or overdue for less than 3 months.
• Public service level 4 international driving license: Vietnamese people, foreigners who have permanent residence cards in Vietnam, have a national driving license issued by Vietnam with PET material, still valid.

– Handling agency : You choose the Department of Transport – Transport in your province or the area you live closest to.

– Receiving location: Depending on the agency you choose, there will be a different receiving address.

After selecting the above 3 boxes, click on the box " ONLINE REGISTRATION " wait for the page to load and proceed to fill in the required information.

Step 3. Enter information about online driving license renewal application

Driver's License Information

Here, you will have to enter the National License Number, enter both numbers and letters. Click “ Search” to continue.

• If found, your information will appear, the system will automatically fill in other information (name, address, …) in the fields.
• If you can't find it, you can't register, which also means you can't change your driving license online, you have to go directly to the authorities to solve it.

Scroll down, there will be an option to Pair More License Numbers if you have a need to add more, otherwise you can skip this item.

Information item requested to change:

Enter this field if you want to change information about your ID number, address of residence or permanent residence.

Note the address: When entering 'Residence' information, you need to enter the name of the Ward/Commune and then choose from the displayed list. When entering 'Detailed address' information, you enter the house number, lane/alley, street name. If the system can't find it, it means you entered it incorrectly.

If you do not want to change the information, you can skip this section.

Profile component item:

This section includes 3 types of documents , these are also the documents for you to bring when you do the procedure to change your license.

Attach data files in the form of photos or in the form of docx, xls, xlsx, pdf, png, jpg, jpeg, gif (file size is not larger than 5MB ) in the corresponding boxes of license, ID card, health certificate. Or you can take a photo or use a scanned file to attach.

Note: Only the case of changing a paper-covered license to a PET-based license will be exempted from the health certificate. These objects include:

• Holders of A1, A2, A3 class licenses.
• Holders of A4 class license, car license with validity period of more than 3 months.

Registration processing time:

Select the date and time you want to register to the settlement agency to complete the procedure. If the time frame you choose has more than one person pre-registering, you will receive an overload notification. Now you need to choose a different time frame.

Contact Info:

In this section, you need to enter the correct information in the boxes with the (*) button, for the purpose of the driver license renewal agency will use this information to contact you.

After entering enough data in the boxes marked (*), you check again to ensure the accuracy of the information, then select "Register" to submit your application.

Step 4: If the registration is successful, you will immediately receive a verification code sent to the email or phone number you just entered in the contact section. You get the verification code and then fill in the blank box displayed on the screen and click the "Send Profile" button.

Continuing, a dialog box will appear, asking you to enter the verification code again. When done, you will receive the following message:

“You have successfully registered your profile online! Please save the application code and verification code to check the processing progress of the application”

Instructions to look up the application progress

After successful authentication, after 2 to 3 days, you should go to the website to change your license to check the progress.

Step 1. You go back to the website to change the license, click the button Look up file progress.

Step 2. Re-enter the application code and submitted phone number, you can find the information in the received Email. Then click on the “Search” button.

In the results section, if the status of your application is "Verified" , it means that the officer has accepted your online application as valid. You will also receive an email notification, if the application has been confirmed, as well as details of the processing appointment.

Usually within about 3 days , there will be a confirmation of the valid application, or a notice of refusal if the application is not valid. If your application is rejected, you can correct your profile information and then resubmit.

Step 4: Arrive at the appointment, complete the online driver license renewal procedure

After the application is confirmed, you just need to be on time for the appointment and bring your identity card or passport (for foreigners) to compare and bring all the documents including:

• An application form for change or re-issuance of a driving license, made according to the form .
• Copy of current driving license.
• Health certificate appropriate to the class of vehicle being driven, issued by a competent medical facility (if necessary).

Note:

If by the scheduled date and time, you have an unexpected busy schedule and cannot come, the system will automatically send a rejection notice via email. To reschedule your appointment, just go to the Look up the progress of your profile, then edit the appointment , then click Save and send .

You are only allowed to edit up to 3 times , then if you still don't arrive on time, you have to re-register from the beginning.

When you arrive at the appointment at the registered time, you present the original documents for the officer to compare, pay the fee of 135,000 VND , sit down to take pictures and after 2 hours you will receive a new driving license.
